Fire destroys home in rural Lake Lillian
LAKE LILLIAN – A home in rural Lake Lillian was destroyed in a fire Wednesday, leaving two people homeless.
The fire was reported at around 12:30 p.m. by a passerby who noticed smoke coming from a tree-covered residence located in the 12100 block of 154th Avenue Southeast, which is the lake road on the north side of Lake Lillian.
Assistant Lake Lillian Fire Chief Josh Gilbert said the mobile home was completely destroyed by the time fire crews from Lake Lillian and Kandiyohi arrived.
“When we pulled up on scene, it was totally gone,” he said.
Two vehicles next to the home were also destroyed.
No one was home at the time of the fire but two pets that may have been in nearby outdoor kennels were rescued by the passerby, Gilberts said.
The two people living in the home arrived on the scene as crews were dousing the final flames on the debris. They declined to comment.
Gilberts said the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and the State Fire Marshal’s office has been called to investigate.
