HECTOR — A house in Hector was destroyed in a fire Monday morning after a car fire in the garage spread to the home.
The incident was reported at 8:38 a.m. at 210 DuPont Avenue Northeast.
According to the Hector Police Department, the initial call indicated that a vehicle was on fire in the garage. By the time the Hector Fire Department arrived, the blaze had spread and the house was engulfed in flames.
The home, owned by Roger Graf III, 47, is believed to be a total loss, according to Police Chief Zachary Pierce.
A neighboring structure also sustained minor damage from the heat of the fire.
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Hector Ambulance, Buffalo Lake Fire Department and the Bird Island Fire Department assisted at the scene.
