Top-seeded Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg had a much more difficult time the second time around with No. 8 Upsala-Swanville Area, holding off the Patriots 19-6 in the quarterfinals of Section 5A Tuesday night in Murdock.
The Fighting Saints (7-2) routed USA 64-20 during a Prairie South Conference clash Sept. 29.
KMS will host Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, a 53-19 winner over Ortonville, at 3 p.m. Saturday in Murdock in the semifinals. Dawson-Boyd, which blanked Royalton 22-0, wil play at Wabasso in the other semifinal.

The top-seeded Fighting Saints piled up 343 yards on the ground with Joel Bauman gaining 186 yards and Mark Skoglund 155 more.

Bauman ran in from 10 yards out in the first quarter to give KMS a 7-0 lead and Skoglund scored on runs covering 1 (second quarter) and 11 yards (fourth quarter) to cap the scoring.

Austin Kampsen ran for 135 yards and three touchdowns as Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa pounded Ortonville 53-19 in Belgrade. Mike Zenzen and Scott Simonson also rushed for touchdowns. Sophomore quarterback Jackson Illies plunged for another score and threw 15 yards to Pat Roelike in the third quarter to extend the Jaguars' lead to 41-7. Chad Starr added a 47-yard kickoff return for six points in the fourth quarter.
The defense was led by Simonson with nine tackles and Zenzen and Ryan Weller with eight each. Donovan Johnson and Brent Gregory each had a sack.
