LITCHFIELD -- Litchfield survived a flurry of third-quarter fumbles to edge Watertown-Mayer 30-22 in Wright County Conference football Saturday. It was the Dragons' fifth straight win.
Litchifeld (5-1, 6-1) is ranked No. 5 in Class AAA.
Holding a 22-0 lead starting the second half, Litchfield fumbled the ball away three times, each leading to a Watertown-Mayer touchdown in the third quarter.
Threatening in the fourth quarter, the Royals drove the ball to Litchfield 21, but the Dragons' defense stopped them on downs.
With three minutes left, Litchfield quarterback Kent Johnson hit Jordan Lecher on a post pattern down the right side of the field for a 79-yard touchdown and the go-ahead score.

Johnson threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns. Lecher caught seven passes for 133 yards.
