GRANITE FALLS -- A 20-point second quarter helped Montevideo win its fourth straight game and remain undefeated, beating Yellow Medicine East 36-13 Friday in West Central South Conference football action.
The Thunder Hawks (3-0, 4-0) hold the league lead alone, knocking off the Sting (2-1, 2-2).
Montevideo made most of its hay on the ground, racking up 256 yards on 52 carries, led by Brock Ackerman's 105 yards on 23 attempts. Shane Black added 49 yards on nine carries and scored two touchdowns.
His first score sparked the big quarter with a 21-yard run. Ackerman added a 10-yard score and the Thunder Hawks capped the half with a 15-yard connection from Tyler Grey to Tyler Ray.
Grey completed 12-of-18 passes for 127 yards and no interceptions. Tramel Barnes pulled down five passes for 69 yards.

Montevideo's defense held YME to just 193 yards overall, including 81 on the ground. Eric Brandon had two interceptions and Shane Black another, and Tyler Johnson recorded two quarterback sacks.
The Sting's biggest play came in the third quarter with a 68-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Hagert to Joey Heglund, who caught a total of two passes for 78 yards. Hagert was 6-of-13 passing for 112 yards.

Mitch Neubauer rushed for 101 of his 174 yards in the first half, including a 40-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter, to help BOLD (2-1, 2-2) remain one game out of first place in the conference. Neubauer then scored on runs covering 11 and 31 yards in the fourth quarter.
It was the Warriors' first shutout since they blanked LQPV 10-0 on Sept. 22 of last year.
Justin Stamp rushed for 45 yards on eight carries and also hauled in five catches from Eagles' quarterback Tom Zupan, who was filling in for starter Baxter DuFrane (lower back injury), for another 46 yards of offense.

Nic Leither and Kurtis Huisman scored twice each as the Falcons improved to 3-1.
Leither's one-yard touchdown run in the first quarter was the only scoring in the first half.
Huisman scored from five yards out after a 66 yard drove in the third quarter for a 13-0 lead.
After Paynesville closed the gap to 13-7 on a 73 yard pass from Ted Hoffman to Tyler Wolters, the Falcons scored twice in the final quarter on a one-yard run by Leither and a 23-yard interception return by Huisman.
ACGC's defense limited the Bulldogs to 11 yards rushing.

The Tigers got their first win with a solid defensive effort that produced two safeties and Travis Moser's 117 yards rushing.
After being stopped at the Benson 1 on downs, the Tigers got a safety on the next play when Matt Wohlers tackled the Benson ball carrier in the end zone. The Tigers got the ball right back and scored on a 51-yard drive that was capped by Moser's five-yard run.
Morris got another safety in the fourth quarter when Craigan Wulf got a sack in the end zone.
