ALEXANDRIA, Minn. - A former principal at Jefferson High School here is a finalist for su-perintendent in the Sartell-St. Stephen district.

Joe Hill is the leading candidate for the position, according to the St. Cloud Times.

Hill, who grew up in Alexandria and graduated from JHS, also taught school in Willmar.

He left the Alexandria job in July 2007 to become assistant superintendent in Duluth.

School board members in Sartell-St. Stephen plan to visit the Duluth School District on Mon-day to meet again with Hill, who was one of three finalists the board interviewed.

He has a doctorate from the University of North Dakota, sixth-year degrees from St. Cloud State University and a bachelor's degree from University of Minnesota-Morris.

The Sartell-St. Stephen district has more than 3,400 students and is the fastest-growing school system in the St. Cloud region.

Dale Gasser, the current superintendent, is retiring after serving the district for five years.

The Alexandria (Minn.) Echo Press is owned by Forum Communications Co.
