LITCHFIELD -- Franklin Lee "Jake" Tompkins, 48, of Litchfield died Sunday in Litchfield.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Military Honors will be provided by the Admiral Benson VFW Post 2818.
He was born June 23, 1958, in Houlton, Maine, to Franklin and Pearl (White) Tompkins. He grew up and attended school in Houlton. He entered the U.S. Marine Corp at age 17. He served as a drill instructor for eight years. He was discharged in 1988. He returned to Maine and worked for Louisiana-Pacific logging mill, then worked in trucking for 10 years. He moved to Minnesota and worked security as anti-terrorist officer at the nuclear power plant in Monticello.

He married Leah Snegosky on Sept. 3, 1993, in Litchfield. They worked together at Granite City Armored Truck. He worked for Office Max, first in sales and human resources then as logistic supervisor. He later worked at Shopko in Hutchinson as a loss prevention supervisor and then as logistics supervisor.
He is survived by his wife; children: Frank (and Margo) Tompkins-Pfaffenberger of Little Falls, Joseph Robertson of Kimball, Jacob Tompkins, Levi Tompkins, Samuel Tompkins, all of Litchfield; his mother: Pearl (and George) Smith of New Limerick, Maine; and his siblings: Michael Gray of Houlton, Maine, Daniel Smith of Bucksport, Maine, Kimberly (and Millard) Wright of Ludlow, Maine, Sandy (and Michael) Hill of Elerrbe, N.C., Leone (and Martin) Wheeler, and Noel Dane, all of New Limerick, Maine.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1960.
