LITCHFIELD -- Fred Emil Nicklasson, 88, of Litchfield died Sunday at Emmanuel Home in Litchfield.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Burial will be at Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

He was born May 21, 1917, in St. Paul to Ernst and Henny (Nilsson) Nicklasson. He grew up and attended school in Westbrook. He moved to Los Angeles, worked as a cook and drove truck for Lockheed during World War II.

He married Dorothy Jackson in 1940 in California. They moved to St. Paul. He worked for Thorp and Sons for 15 years and then was a co-owner. He moved to Litchfield in 1963 and owned Tri-Way Motel from 1963 to 1972. He worked at Ideal Lumber until he retired.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield.

Fred is survived by his sons: Robert (and Angie) of Seward, Alaska, John (and Nancy) of Litchfield; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Henry (and Jean) Nicklasson of Montevideo and Clarence (and Vi) Nicklasson of Buffalo Lake.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two sisters and three brothers.
