Freeport woman killed in collision accident

A Freeport woman died Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Stearns County Road 157 and Long Lake Road in Oak Township in Stearns County.

A Freeport woman died Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Stearns County Road 157 and Long Lake Road in Oak Township in Stearns County.

Loretta Agnes Ostendorf, 89, was driving eastbound on Road 157 in her 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera when she collided with the rear end of an eastbound Caterpillar road grader, according to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office. The grader was driven by Thomas Anthony Nienaber, 64, of Burtrum.

Nienaber had stopped on the road as he waited to turn north onto Long Lake Road when his road grader was struck by Ostendorf at approximately 3:22 p.m., according to Stearns County Sheriff's Office.

Ostendorf transported by emergency services to the Melrose Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Nienaber was uninjured in the crash.

The Freeport Rescue Squad assisted at the accident scene.
