Funeral services to be held for toddler who died in Thursday crash near Blomkest

Funeral services will be held for Myra Kay Ahrenholz, 2, of Prinsburg, at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the CMCS outdoor amphitheater in Prinsburg with visitation to be held from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, according to her obituary.

WILLMAR — Funeral services have been set for the 2-year-old Prinsburg girl who died during a one-vehicle crash Thursday evening in Blomkest.

Funeral services will be held for Myra Kay Ahrenholz at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the CMCS outdoor amphitheater in Prinsburg with visitation to be held from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, according to her obituary.

The funeral will be live-streamed on the Raymond CRC YouTube site. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Raymond Vacation Bible School are preferred. Arrangements are with the Tri-County Funeral Home. www.tricountyfuneral.com .

According to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, Ahrenholz was sitting on the lap of Kourtney Schwitters, 23, of Clara City, while Schwitters was driving west on 225th Avenue Southwest in Roseland Township when she lost control of the vehicle on loose gravel and rolled into the ditch.

Schwitters was wearing a seat belt and neither she nor the child were ejected from the vehicle.

Ahrenholz was airlifted from the scene by Life Link helicopter but died from her injuries while en route to a metro hospital, according to the sheriff’s report.

Schwitters suffered serious injuries and was transported by Raymond Ambulance to Carris Health — Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

The crash is currently under investigation.
