REDWOOD FALLS -- Gale L. Woelfel, 60, of Redwood Falls died Sunday at Seasons Home in Redwood Falls.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. Burial will be at the Catholic cemetery in Redwood Falls.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the church, with a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Arrangements are with Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls.

He was born Dec. 23, 1945, in rural Seaforth to Aelred and Eleanor (Schmidt) Woelfel. He grew up in the Seaforth area, moved to Redwood Falls in 1956, and graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1963.

He married Arlene Mude on Sept. 27, 1969, in Redwood Falls. He worked at Control Data for 19 years and then owned and operated the two bottle shops, one in Spicer and one in North Redwood.

He was a member St. Catherine's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was active in the Redwood Falls National Guard for 10 years, American Legion, and the Redwood Falls Golf Club.

Gale is survived by his wife; children: Chad (and Kristen) Woelfel of Spicer, Cheri Woelfel of Golden Valley; his mother of Redwood Falls; one grandchild; and his siblings: Harlan (and Betty) Woelfel of Scottsdale, Ariz., Ken Woelfel (and special friend, Sheryl) of Maplewood, Steve (and Susan) Woelfel of Plymouth, and Lynn (and Scott) VanOrt of Spicer.

He was preceded in death by his father; and two sisters.
