WILLMAR -- A number of downtown building owners reported to the Willmar Police Department damage from graffiti vandals. The report was made around 8:15 a.m. Monday along the 300 block of Third Street Southwest.
Blue spray paint was used to write "BP," "SS13" and "Brown Pride" on the walls of the old Erickson's building, the Barn Theatre and Engan Associates building. A report filed with the police around 11:15 a.m. said that blue spray paint was also used in graffiti under the First Street bridge and on the back door of Home Accents.
Police Officer Marilee Dorn said graffiti has been considered gang-related and will be investigated by the Gang Enforcement Team. Dorn said the terms and words used in the graffiti have to do with the Latino pride movement and some California-based gangs.
