WILLMAR - Brightly colored monsters cover the surface of new lightweight garbage cans that will replace the metal bins in downtown Willmar. Employees of the Willmar Public Works Department replaced a total of 10 cans on Litchfield Avenue and Fourth Street Southwest last week.

Sarah Swedburg, Willmar city planner, said that replacing the garbage cans is one of the many improvements they are working on for the downtown district.

"We wanted to make the garbage cans more family-friendly and invite people to use them," she said.

The monster graphics were locally made by Pat's Graphics and the cans were contracted through Miller Sanitation.
