WILLMAR -- Gary Oliver Sherwood, 70, of Willmar, formerly of Diamond Lake, died Saturday at the Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Willmar. Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery in rural Kandiyohi.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
He was born Nov. 11, 1936, in Bird Island to Glen and Marjorie (Beasley) Sherwood. He grew up and received his education in Bird Island.

On June 8, 1957, he married Ruth Swanson. They made their home in the Willmar area. He worked as a meat cutter and truck driver. Following his retirement, he raised and showed dogs around the central states, winning many awards and recognitions.
He is survived by his wife; six children: Donald (and Laurie) Sherwood of Willmar, Dan (and Terri) Sherwood of Mesa, Ariz., Doyen (and Allen) Hillenbrand of Willmar, Douglas (and Linda) Sherwood of Litchfield, Deena (and Chad) Thoreson of St. Cloud and David Sherwood (and Stacie Jacobs) of St. Cloud; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings: Bruce (and Mary) Sherwood of Mankato; and Bonnie Stevens of Battle Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Louise Sherwood; and one brother in infancy.
