PENNOCK -- George James Ryks, 73, of rural Pennock died Monday at Paynesville Area Hospital.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hope Presbyterian Church in Spicer. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Raymond.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

He was born May 30, 1934, in rural Raymond to George and Alice (Buttenhoff) Ryks. He grew up in the Renville and Raymond areas. He graduated from Raymond High School in 1953.

He married Joanne Marie Beecroft on Aug. 26, 1955. They lived in the Willmar and New London areas. In 1976, they moved to rural Pennock. He worked as a sheet metal worker and had been employed by Weidner's Plumbing and Heating in St. Cloud prior to retiring in 1996.

He was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church in Spicer, where he served as a church elder and deacon. He was a member of Union 10 Sheet Metal Workers of America.

He is survived by his wife; children: James (and Carey) Ryks of Buffalo, Jeffrey (and Juli) Ryks of Bloomington and Julie Ryks (and special friend Neil Evans) of Willmar; three grandchildren; siblings: John Ryks, Gordon (and Mae) Ryks and Harold (and Lorraine) Ryks, all of Willmar, Mary Ann (and Harold) Lindbom of Osage, Dellis (and Charles) Campbell of Shakopee, Robert (and LuAnn) Ryks of Howard Lake, Judy (and Merlyn) Kluver of New London.

He was preceded in death by one brother.
