CLARA CITY --Gerald Otto Pieper, 81, of Clara City died Thursday at Mission Nursing Home in Plymouth.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Clara City and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born Jan. 15, 1927, in rural Clara City to Herbert and Lena (Meyer) Pieper. He graduated from District 71 grade school. He attended the Agricultural School in Morris.
He served in Korea from 1951 to 1953. Following his discharge, he returned to the Clara City area and farmed until retiring.

He married Loretta (Koenen) Jaenisch in 1989.
He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City and served as president of the church council. He also taught Sunday school. He served on the Clara City Telephone Company, the Clara City farmer's Union Co-op Oil Co. and the Renville Co-op Transport Association boards.
He is survived by his brother: Harlan (and Alberta) Pieper; sisters: Elaine Johnson, Doris (and James) Schei and Lorraine (and Milo) Peterson; two step-daughters: Terri Jaenisch and Judy Best; and three-step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and an infant brother.
