WILLMAR -- Gina Mueller has been selected as the Willmar Business and Professional Women's 2007 Young Careerist.
The competition was held Tuesday at the Blue Heron in Willmar. Mueller now qualifies to compete at the state level Feb. 23 and 24 in Minneapolis.
Mueller serves as resource development and marketing coordinator for the United Way of Kandiyohi County. Prior to taking her position with the United Way, she was sales manager for Herberger's in St. Cloud.
She graduated in 2005 from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter with a major in communications studies and minors in business management and dance.
Mueller is committed to mentoring youth, in her role as director of the United Way's Youth as Resources program, as a volunteer instructor for Junior Achievement and as a dance instructor in New London.

The Young Careerist Program recognizes the accomplishments of successful women and introduces them to the mission and vision of Business and Professional Women. The program, begun in 1964, involves a competitive selection process within local organizations, resulting in the selection of a Young Careerist to represent the Business and Professional Women. Following the state competition, a national competition is held in which the winner serves as the National Representative for BPW/USA.
To participate in the program, a Young Careerist must be between the ages of 21 and 35, be employed for at least one year, full time, in her career area and support the goals and objectives of Business and Professional Women.
Thompson was judged in the following areas: written and biographical information, judges' interview, group interaction and a prepared speech.
