FAIRFAX -- A 14-year-old girl was abducted early this morning in Fairfax, but was able to escape her captor, whom law enforcement officials are looking for this afternoon.

According to Renville County Sheriff Jerry Agre, the suspect is a white male in his mid-20s, about 6 foot 3, 235 pounds. The vehicle he is suspected of driving is a silver 2004 Chevy four-door sedan with plate number NVX 119.

The girl left home around 6:15 a.m. to do her paper route, Agre said. When she didn't return at the usual time, her mother went out to look for her and found her bicycle. The woman called the sheriff's office at 7:58 a.m. It was about 40 minutes later that the girl called for help, having jumped out of the man's car and escaped. She was located about 10 miles south of Fairfax, in Brown County.

Anyone with information about the location of the man or the vehicle is asked to call the sheriff's office at 320-523-1161 or 911.
