WILLMAR - A juvenile female was able to get away from an alleged attempted kidnapping from her Willmar home.

The Willmar Police Department, in a news release, said the 20-year-old male suspect has been arrested and is currently being held in the Kandiyohi County Jail pending charges of kidnapping, false imprisonment and second-degree assault.

According to the news release, the suspect, who is known to the victim, showed up Thursday afternoon at the girl's residence in the 2100 block of 21st Avenue Southwest. He then allegedly assaulted the girl before trying to lead her to his vehicle, the release said.

The girl was able to escape and called her parents. The police were called to the home at 4:28 p.m. Thursday and the girl said she was safe at home.

The police were able to locate the suspect a short time later and arrested him.
