NEW LONDON -- A 13-year-old fell through ice on the Mill Pond in New London Saturday afternoon.
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office received the call at 5:25 p.m. Saturday. When emergency personnel arrived at the scene, the girl was out of the water and sitting on First Avenue Southwest in New London, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office.
The girl had been walking with a 12-year-old friend on the edge of the pond, where the ice was about an inch thick over four feet of water, according to the release.
The girl was treated at the scene for cold exposure/hypothermia and taken to Rice Memorial Hospital by ambulance, according to the release. No information was available about her condition on Sunday.
In addition to the Sheriff's Office, the New London Ambulance Service, Spicer First Responders and off-duty emergency personnel responded to the scene.

"The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office reminds everyone that the current ice conditions are unstable, and venturing onto frozen waters is dangerous at this time," Sgt. Steven Marquardt wrote in the release. "We urge everyone to give winter a chance to freeze the lakes and waterways to a safe thickness before heading onto the ice."
