GROVE CITY -- Lauren Kinzler made a go-ahead jumper with 50 seconds left and Brittany Smith netted 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to help Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City collect a 44-40 win over Montevideo in the West Central South Conference Friday.
Kinzler broke a 40-40 tie that had stood for 1:10 with a 15-foot jumper from the right wing. Kjersten Karlsgodt then sealed the win by making two free throws with 18 seconds remaining.
The Falcons (3-0, 5-3) limited Montevideo (1-3, 4-5) to just 29 shots and owned a 27-22 lead at halftime after Smith scored 12 points in the first half. Karlsgodt finished with 11 points.
Kara Nelson had nine points -- eight in the first half -- to pace a balanced attack for the Thunder Hawks.
