BENSON -- Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City held on to beat Benson 45-40 Friday in the West Central South Conference.
The Falcons (1-1, 1-2) had a 20-3 lead to start the game before Benson (1-1, 1-3) went on a 17-8 run to cut ACGC's lead to eight at halftime. The Braves eventually trimmed the Falcons' lead to three, but a missed three-pointer to two free throws from Liberty Slinden down the stretch sealed the first win of the season for ACGC.
Kayla Dallmann had 14 points and Steph Nelson 10 to pace the offensive attack for the Falcons. Keri Mikkelson had 12 points to pace Benson.

Hannah Wenaas had 19 of her game-high 26 points in the first half to lead the Thunder Hawks.
Wenaas scored 16 of Montevideo's first 18 points in the the game. She had four of her five 3-pointers in the first half. She also led with five steals. Brooke Tastad added 12 points, five rebounds and four steals.
Carrie Hebrink led BOLD with six points.

Emily Balfany made a pair of free throws with 30 seconds left in overtime for a three-point YME lead.
The game was tied 17-all at half and 39-39 at the end of regulation.
Stef Strobel scored 12 points and Megan Dierks 11 for Morris/Chokio-Alberta.
Belfany and Aimee Johnson each finished with nine points for YME while Anne Jepson contributed seven points and seven rebounds.
