BENSON -- Hancock held off a hard-charging Benson girls basketball team, winning the non-conference clash 52-49 Friday.

The Owls (14-1), who won their sixth straight game, held a 27-16 halftime lead, but the Braves (5-7) opened the second half with a 15-4 run to tie the game.

Sarah Ahrndt spearheaded the charge, scoring 11 of her 13 points in the final 18 minutes. She made three of the team's five 3-pointers.

Defensively, the Braves held Tara Thielke, Hancock's leading scorer, to two points in the second half. She still finished with a team-high 15.

Bree Holleman followed wth 14 points and Jenny Noordmans had 12 point.

Abby Fragodt scored 15 points and pulled down nine boards to lead the Braves.
