HANCOCK -- The Hancock Owls defended their home court on Monday night, repelling Benson 74-56 in a non-conference girls basketball game.

The Owls (8-1) jumped out 34-25 and polished off the Braves with a 40-point second half.

Benson was unable to contain Hancock's Bree Holleman, who collected up 27 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Jenny Noordmans kicked in 21 points, eight boards and seven steals. The Owls shot just below 50 percent (29 of 59).

Benson got 13 points each from Courtney Frank and Abby Fragodt.

Eden Valley-Watkins' Hannah Linz scored 16 of her game-high 18 points in the first half, helping Class AA's seventh-ranked team improve to 13-2.
