Girls Basketball: Hansen breaks BBE scoring mark in victory over Kimball

BROOTEN -- April Hansen poured in 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa won its first Central Minnesota Conference girls basketball game of the season, 81-37, over Kimball Friday.

BROOTEN -- April Hansen poured in 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa won its first Central Minnesota Conference girls basketball game of the season, 81-37, over Kimball Friday.

Hansen became BBE's all-time girls' scoring leader with 1,304 points, eclipsing the old mark of 1,290 set by Amanda Illies in 1998.The all-school record is held by Michele Marthaler with 1,501 points in 1986.

The Jaguars (1-1, 2-4) scored 43 points in the first half, then held Kimball (1-1, 2-7) to just 15 points in the second half.

BBE shot 53 percent (30 of 57) from the floor and grabbed 42 rebounds.

Heidi Lensing added 10 points and 10 boards to Hansen's double-double, and Missy Montbriand scored 15 points.
