MANKATO -- Litchfield came back from 13-point deficits twice, but was still edged by Worthington 62-59 in Section 2AAA girls basketball action Saturday at Minnesota State-Mankato.
The Dragons (20-8) trailed 28-15 in the first half, but scored the next 13 points to tie the game. Worthington (21-3) then sank two 3-pointers and entered halftime with a 38-32 lead.
The Trojans used a 9-2 run to start the second half to regain control, but once again, Litchfield stormed back. This time, the Dragons scored 16 straight points to take a 50-47 lead with five minutes left.
Becky Smith scored a game-high 29 points for Litchfield, followed by Emalee Davis with 12. She also made the Dragons' lone three-pointer.
