SAUK CENTRE -- With the help of a plus-13 advantage in rebounds, Sauk Centre stunned New London-Spicer 44-41 Monday in a make-up West Central North Conference game.
The Wildcats (18-6) owned a slim 18-16 lead at halftime and eventually led by as much as seven in the second half before Sauk Centre chipped away.
The Mainstreeters (9-4, 17-4) took the lead away with five minutes left. Renae Henjum got NLS within one at 42-41 with 30 seconds left, but Kelli Olmscheid drained two free throws three seconds later to seal the win.
Sauk Centre grabbed 46 rebounds to NLS' 33 and had Shanna Schmiesing pull down 16 and Amy Wolf 15 more. Henjum hooked 11 boards to go along with her team-high 12 points.
