Girls Basketball: NLS overcomes early deficit, upends Waska

GLENWOOD -- New London-Spicer won its ninth straight game Friday after rallying from an early 13-point deficit to upend Minnewaska 55-50 in a West Central North Conference girls basketball game.

The Lakers (3-2, 6-3) raced to a 17-4 lead before Renae Henjum sparked the Wildcats' comeback. The junior center netted 14 of her game-high 19 points in the first half as New London-Spicer (4-0, 9-2) ended the half on a 23-10 run.

The Wildcats slowly pulled away in the second, but Minnewaska got within one when Brittany Mensing hit a three-pointer with just under a minute remaining. The Wildcats sealed the win by making four free throws down the stretch.

Cassie Jacobs had a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds and Sara Gregersen netted 14 points to pace the Lakers.
