NEW LONDON -- New London-Spicer clamped down on Melrose in the second half, leading to a 57-29 win in West Central North girls basketball play Tuesday.
The Wildcats (5-1, 11-3) held a 27-17 lead at halftime, then allowed the Dutchmen (3-4, 3-8) just 12 points over the final 18 minutes.
Renae Henjum had 23 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocked shots for NLS. Jenn Wendlandt added 10 points and six rebounds. Karli Wendlandt recorded seven steals.
