Girls Basketball: Noordmans hits 1,000-point mark

UNDERWOOD -- Jenny Noordmans reached the 1,000-point mark for career as Hancock routed Underwood 61-26 in non-conference girls basketball action Friday.

Noordmans needed 10 points to reach the milestone and finished with 23. She made a lay-up with 5:21 left in the first half for her 1,000th point.

She also grabbed 11 rebounds and made five steals.

Bree Holleman added 14 points and six rebounds for the Owls (15-3). Hannah Newhouse had seven rebounds.

Sarah Carlson and Stephanie Stassen sparked a second-half surge for Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg by netting 10 points apiece. KMS trailed by three at halftime and eventually tied the game with 10 minutes left before ending the game with a 26-18 run.

Carlson finished with 19 points while Stassen, along with Demi Young, tallied 15 more. Carlson also piled up nine rebounds, four assists and two steals.

After Litchfield turned an uptempo first half into a 32-24 lead, the offense slipped a gear and Annandale seized the initiative.

Melissa Opatz, scoreless the first half, swished a three-pointers and two deuces to ignite the Cardinals who quickly overtook the Dragons to lead by 11.

A Litchfield rally came up short. A lay-up by Jamie Wollen, who scored a game-high 17 points, cut the Annandale lead to two points with :30 left.

Bri Barrett led Annandale with 13 points.

Litchfield's Angie Euerle finished with 10, Lizzie Johnson nine and Courtney Euerle eight.
