LITCHFIELD -- Though Litchfield forced 27 Redwood Valley turnovers, the Cardinals cashed in seven more free throws to edge Litchfield 46-41 in a battle of unbeaten girls basketball teams Tuesday.
Litchfield's full-court pressure gave Redwood Valley (3-0) trouble early, but the Cardinals settled down to stay close the Dragons (3-1), 21-18 at halftime.
Redwood Valley made a run in the last six minutes, breaking a 31-31 tie to win.
Neither team shot well from the field, with Redwood Valley connecting on 34 percent (14 of 41) and Litchfield 27 percent (16 of 59) from the field.
Carolyn Smith led the Cardinals with 17 points. Jordan Olerud added 10 points and nine rebounds.

Emily Davis posted a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Dragons. Jamie Wollin added 10 points.
