MONTEVIDEO -- Montevideo fought off Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City with clutch free-throw shooting down the stretch to tip the Falcons 55-52 in West Central South girls basketball on Thursday.
The Thunder Hawks, who had struggled through their first four games at the charity strike, made 10-of-13 in the second half and 16-of-23 (70 percent) for the game.
Beka Schwendeman scored 14 points and Taylor Skoglund had 13 points. The pair also combined for 13 rebounds to lead the Thunder Hawks.
ACGC's Kayla Dallman led all scorers with 24 points. Liberty Slinden chipped in with nine points and 13 rebounds.

GLENWOOD -- Emily Roering and Erika Olson had 15 points apiece and Cassie Jacobs followed with 14 as Minnewaska defeated Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 58-44 in a non-conference girls basketball game Thursday night.
The Lakers improved to 5-0 with the win.
Roering, Jacobs and Amie Chan also had seven rebounds apiece Ifor the Lakers. Brittany Mensing led with five assists.
