GRANITE FALLS -- Emily Balfany made five steals and scored 11 of her game-high 18 points in the second half to help Yellow Medicine East rally past BOLD 61-53 in the West Central South Conference opener for both squads Tuesday.
BOLD (0-1, 0-3) grabbed control in the first half and went into halftime up 32-29. YME (1-0, 1-2) then put together a run to start the second half to catch up and eventually pull away. The Sting also got 10 points from Anne Jepson, seven rebounds from Livi Jeseritz and five blocks from Megan Lecy.
Brit Bailey and Leah Miller both netted 15 points to lead the BOLD offense.

In a see-saw battle, Morris/Chokio-Alberta held off Benson, which missed a three-pointer with 10 seconds remaining.
Brittany Nelson led a balanced scoring attack for the Tigers (1-0, 2-1) with 10 points. Heather Gagner added nine points and five steals and Jasmine Henrich eight points and seven rebounds.
Abby Fragodt poured in 20 points and had nine rebounds and five steals for the Braves (1-1, 2-2). Brittany Holm chipped in 12 points.

The Eagles trailed until 1:41 were left and Micaela Erickson hit a free throw for a 48-47 lead over Montevideo. Mindy Clark and Kala Rheingans each hit a pair of free throws down the stretch as Lac qui Parle Valley sank 25 of 34 for the game (74 percent).
Clark finished with 18 points and seven rebounds and Rheingans with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Melanie Gail added 10 points and four steals.
Montevideo, which led 28-23 at half, got 19 points from Brook Moseng and 12 by Taylor Skoglund.
