WILLMAR -- Willmar exploded for three first-period goals, but couldn't get the puck in the net after that and fell to St. Cloud Tech 6-3 in a Central Lakes Conference game on Thursday.

Tech (3-3-1, 5-10-1) jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Willmar tied it on goals by Jennie Mattison and Chelsey Wierschem

Tech then regained the lead before the Cardinals tied it with 41 seconds left in the period on a goal by Ali Sing.

Despite a nine-game losing streak, Willmar coach Rick Dahle is convinced the team continues to work hard.

"Usually the team that works the hardest wins most of the time," said Dahle. "But we just haven't had a lot of things go our way lately. But tomorrow's another day and we'll continue to work hard and see if the breaks start going our way."

Sing and Wierschem also had assists. Kylee Hulscher also had an assist.

Bailey Young stopped 24 shots in the Willmar net.

Willmar was called for four penalties, two of which Tech converted into goals. The Tigers were whistled only once for a penalty.
