BRAINERD -- Willmar scored the first and last goal, but Brainerd scored four goals in between to hand the Cardinals a 4-2 Central Lakes Conference girls hockey loss Monday.
Alexandra Sing put Willmar on the scoreboard at the 9:04 mark of the first period, but the Warriors tied it at 15:54 on Elle Adams' powerplay goal.
The teams stayed scoreless in the second period.
"We came out strong in the third period, we hit the post twice and we had quality chances," said Willmar coach Rick Dahle.
Brainerd took a 2-1 lead on a Jessica Bye goal at 6:53, then the Warriors netted two goals in 42 seconds from Adams and Bye, respectively.

Ashley Hutton earned Willmar's second goal on an unassisted powerplay shot with just over two minutes left to play.
"It was a good stepping stone and the girls worked really hard," he said.
Amanda Croonquist recorded 24 saves in the Cardinals' goal.
The Cardinals host Morris/Benson Area at 7 p.m. today at the Civic Center in the regular-season finale for both teams.
