SAUK RAPIDS -- After a quiet first period, Willmar erupted for four goals in the middle stanza to spill Sartell/Sauk Rapids 5-2
Tuesday in Central Lakes Conference girls hockey.
Willmar got only one shot on net in the first period and trailed 1-0. But Chelsey Wierschem, Erin Sheehan, Ali Sing and Chelsey Beilhartz each tallied in the second period to take a 4-1 lead.
Beilhartz iced the win with her second goal, 1:51 left in the third period, a powerplay with a helper to Ashley Hutton.
Abigail Schueller stopped 34 shots in superlative effort to help Willmar (3-8, 7-12) to its seventh win.

Sing also assisted on Wierschem's goal while Hutton tallied two assists. Libby Flickinger, Kelsey Swenson, Carlie Freese and Nikki Serbus also had an assist for the Cardinals, who are at St. Cloud Tech on Thursday.
