WILLMAR -- The Willmar girls soccer team held Alexandria scoreless for the first 77 minutes of their Central Lakes Conference match Monday at Kennedy Field.
But Alexandria knocked in the game-winner as Nikki Hammond directed a Katie Roos crossing pass by sliding on the wet turf and finding an open corner for a 1-0 victory.
Willmar goalie Chelsey Wierschem made 25 saves and the defense helped her out with nine defensive saves, led by Leslie Christianson's four and three more from Chloe Donoho.
Willmar ends its five-match homestand with a contest against Sauk Rapids at 5 p.m. today at Kennedy Field.
