BROOTEN -- Gladys Viola Olson, 91, of Brooten died Tuesday at Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten. Burial will be at Zion West Cemetery in Belgrade.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Hoplin Funeral Home-Brooten Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

She was born July 5, 1914, near Belgrade to Arthur and Rose (Kittelson) Blomberg. The family moved to Brooten when she was 4, and later to a farm near Glenwood. She attended District 40 country school and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1934. She was a waitress at Whimpy's Café in Glenwood.

She married Allen Olson in May 1944 in Brooten. They lived in various places while Allen worked for the Soo Line Railroad, and returned to Brooten in 1978.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was active in the ladies aid and quilter's club.

She is survived by her husband; son: Thomas (and Karen) of Moose Lake; one grandson; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two siblings: Hazel Nelson of Brooten and Philip Bentrud of Minneapolis.

She was preceded in death by one brother and an infant sister.
