MADISON -- Glenn S. Nygard, 88, of Madison died Thursday at the Madison Hospital.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church in Madison. Burial with service will be at Hegre Lutheran Cemetery of rural Madison.

He was born on July 30, 1919, in Hantho Township, Lac qui Parle County, to Peter and Sena (Trelstad) Nygard. He attended rural school at District 29 and then farmed.

He married Gladys Schwartz on June 4, 1950, in Appleton. He continued to farm. They wintered in Arizona for 16 years.

He was a member of Hegre and Borgund Lutheran Churches where he held various offices. He later joined Faith Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife; children: James Nygard of Buffalo, Paul (and Connie) Nygard of Madison, Susan (and Tim) Nystrom of Foreston, Richard Nygard of Blaine, and Wayne Nygard of St. Cloud; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; a sister: Sylvia Johnson of Montevideo; and a brother: Philip (and Harriet) Nygard of Madison.

He was preceded in death by a sister.
