BIRD ISLAND -- Gloria Peris, 67, of Bird Island died Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Bird Island. Burial will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Hector.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Bird Island and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born July 22, 1941, in Hutchinson to John and Irma (Schaefer) Runke. She grew up near Boon Lake and graduated from Buffalo Lake High School. She worked at a grocery store and later at a bank in Hutchinson.
She married James Peris on June 21, 1975, in Cedar Mills. They farmed south of Bird Island. She worked at VGB Greeting Cards and was a housekeeper.

She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Bird Island. She coached Little League baseball for many years and was active in fundraising.
She is survived by her husband; three daughters: Kimberly (and Paul) Strommer of Olivia, Connie (and Scott) Swenson of Hector and Sara Peris (and special friend Justin Anderson) of Hector; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
