Schroeder benefit
RENVILLE -- Dad's Belgium Waffles benefit for the Mike and Claudia Schroeder family will be served from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Renville Community Center. Claudia developed pre eclampsia and was transported to Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis. Spencer was born a week later, on Oct. 12 and they returned home Nov. 13. Proceeds will go towards medical bills and expenses of being off work. Grandparents are Faye Schmidt, and Laurie and Gary Schroeder, all of Renville. Donations may also be sent to the family at Mike and Claudia Spencer, c/o Spencer, Renville Post Office.
CMCS Harvest Festival
PRINSBURG -- Central Minnesota Christian School will have a Harvest Festival from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the school. Ham supper, booths, kids carnival, teen scene, live and silent auctions.
Blomkest Fire Dept. and First Responders

BLOMKEST -- The Blomkest Fire Department and First Responders will have turkey games at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Blomkest Community Center.
Atwater Fire Department
ATWATER -- The Fire Department will have a French toast breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Atwater Community Center. Freewill donation. The auxiliary will have a bake sale during the breakfast.
Krismas Kaffe
WILLMAR -- The Kandiyohi County Historical Museum and Sperry House present "Krismas Kaffe on the Kandi Express" from 3 to 5 p.m. Dec. 10 at the museum. Coffee and an assortment of Scandinavian treats will be served in the museum amidst the "Festive Forest" and their will be guided tours of the Sperry House. $20 per person.
Kids Against Hunger
The Feeding Children International Kids Against Hunger will be packing food in the area in the coming weeks. The organization has already sent 180,000 meals to help victims of Hurricane Katrina and plans to send a total of 1 million meals. The satellite from Stewart provides the raw ingredients and packaging materials and local organizations provide the site, labor and cash donations. Listed below are the towns scheduled to have a packaging day. The website for the Stewart group is www.feedingchildrenstewart.org . Sacred Heart, Saturday: The mobile unit will be at the Sacred Heart Community Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bird Island, Dec. 3: The mobile unit will be in Bird Island. Montevideo, Dec. 14: The mobile unit will be at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, co-sponsored by Trinity Lutheran Church. Benson, Jan. 18: The mobile unit will be at the Benson High School from 6 to 8 p.m. sponsored by the Catholic Area Parishes.
The Salvation Army

Thanksgiving Food Baskets
The Salvation Army will give out between 150 and 200 food boxes containing the ingredients to make a turkey dinner for Thanksgiving. Monetary donations are still be accepted to help pay for the food boxes.
Volunteers are needed help fill the boxes between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Monday and to hand out the boxes between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at The Salvation Army.
Bell ringers
The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers the man the kettles throughout the Christmas season.
Coat drive
The Salvation Army received over 1,000 coats, hats, mittens, snowpants and scarves which were handed out to 185 adults and 198 children during their coat drive.
