MINNEAPOLIS - Republicans have roared into the majority in the Minnesota Senate after nearly 40 years in the minority.
GOP challengers snatched 16 seats from Democrats to gain a seven-vote advantage. They will control the chamber 37-30.
It's a stunning turnaround for a caucus that faced a veto-proof Democratic majority for the past two years.
Republicans have never controlled the chamber under the GOP banner. They were called "conservatives" the last time they ruled the Senate in 1972.
