BELGRADE -- Gordon Halvorson, 84, of Belgrade died Wednesday at the Paynesville Area Hospital.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Crow River Lutheran Church in rural Belgrade. Burial will be at Gausdal Lutheran Cemetery in rural Belgrade.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade and for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

He was born on June 28, 1923, in Georgeville to George and Mathilda Halvorson. He attended Georgeville School through the eighth grade.

He married Anna C. Anderson on May 24, 1946. He was a farmer all his life in rural Belgrade.

He was a member of Gausdal Lutheran and Crow River Lutheran Church. He served on the elevator, creamery and cemetery boards. He was also a member of the Belgrade and Willmar Senior Citizens.

He is survived by his wife; children: Doug (and Judy) of Isle, Phyllis (and Jim) Framstad of Annandale, Marilyn (and Paul) Erickson of Circle Pines, Ron (and Kay) of Belgrade, Dan (and Sue) of Willmar, Stan (and Rachel) of New London, Ralph (and Melissa) of Lakeville, and Paul (and Carrie) of Belgrade; 27 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters: Olga (and Donald) Carlson of Belgrade, Janice Anderson of Cambridge, and Marlys (and Silas) Olson of Grand Rapids.

He was preceded in death by a brother, infant son, Kenneth, and daughter-in-law, Deb Halvorson.
