BIRD ISLAND -- Gordon Peter Beckler, 79, of Bird Island died Friday at RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville.
The service was held Sunday at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Bird Island. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 30, 1927, in Bird Island to Thomas and Theresa (Sester) Beckler. He attended school at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bird Island.

He married Frances Hansen on April 30, 1948, in Bird Island. They made their home in Bird Island for many years. He farmed for many years, drove school bus and was employed by Rural Dehydrators and the Bird Island Farmers Elevator. When he was younger, he assisted in building St. Mary's Catholic Church. Recently, they had moved to Renville.
He is survived by his wife; children: Ron (and Shirley) Beckler of Danube, Dale Beckler of Bird Island, Daniel Beckler of Bird Island, Linda (and Gary) Keehl of Renville, and Judy Beckler (and special friend Dion) of Willmar; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers: Edward (and Nettie) Beckler of Bloomington and Roger (and Carol Ann) Beckler of Hector; two sisters: Marlene (and Lenus) Woelfel of Bloomington and Darlene (and Dick) Chan of Renville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son: Steven; two brothers; and a sister.
