The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party endorsed challengers to take on the Republican officeholders in state legislative District 17, which includes Willmar and Kandiyohi County and neighboring counties. The district endorsements were conducted virtually over the weekend.
The DFL endorsed Willmar city council member Fernando Alvarado to campaign for the District 17 Senate seat held by Andrew Lang, R-Olivia.
It endorsed first-time office seeker Logan Kortgard, of Willmar, to challenge state Senator Dave Baker of Willmar for the District 17B House seat. Kortgard is a Willmar High School graduate and a fourth-year student at the University of Minnesota majoring in health services management.
The party supported Benjamin Dolan, of Appleton, in his campaign for the District 17A House seat held by Tim Miller, R-Prinsburg. Dolan is serving as a law clerk in the Eighth Judicial District.
