WILLMAR — Kandiyohi County District 2 Commissioner Steve Ahmann announced Tuesday that he will seek re-election in November.
Ahmann, of Willmar, was elected to his first term in 2016, defeating incumbent Doug Reese.
Ahmann said in his announcement that he will continue to focus on providing essential services in a cost-effective and non-discriminatory manner and pledged to be a good steward of tax dollars.
“I will continue to encourage people to be involved in the process of decision-making. I will continue to NOT be a rubber stamper,” he said in a news release.
Ahmann said he will continue to be available to all constituents and Kandiyohi County residents.
Ahmann has a background in construction and also served on the Willmar City Council prior to his 2016 run for County Board. According to his profile on the county website, he started his construction company in 1986.
Steve Garder of Willmar had previously announced that he intends to seek the District 2 seat.
Kandiyohi County’s Second Commissioner District is all urban, covering the east, southeast and near west sides of the city of Willmar, including the downtown district.
