WILLMAR — Commissioners, staff and members of the public attending the in-person meetings of the Willmar Municipal Utilities Commission will be required to wear a mask because of the coronavirus pandemic unless they have a medical condition that makes it unreasonable for that person to do so.
Information from Willmar City Attorney Robert Scott, sent to the commissioners on Thursday, along with the upcoming agenda for the Feb. 22 meeting, covers the masking requirements laid out in Executive Order 20-81.
"WMU can and should require that all attendees wear a face covering at the meeting except when actually testifying or speaking," unless the person claims to be exempt from the requirements, Scott wrote in his brief to the commission.
The update on the masking rules comes after the Feb. 8 commission meeting where only a few people wore masks in the meeting auditorium. The commission resumed in person meetings in late January.
