WILLMAR — The Willmar Brush Site will open for the season Monday, March 29.
The site is for Willmar residents only to dispose of their brush, branches, leaves, grass and garden clippings. No garbage, boxes, plastic bags or plastic of any type is allowed to be left at the site.
The site is located three miles west of Willmar. It is located next to the Willmar Wastewater Treatment Plant. Due to the Willmar Wye construction, a detour is in place. Residents will need to take the Highway 71/23 Bypass to Priam and then turn right on Kandiyohi County Road 116.
Hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The site will be closed May 31 and Sept. 6.
Other rules for the site are no contractors, mechanical dumping, dump trucks or dump trailers. Logs more than 18 inches round are not allowed to be dumped at the brush site, as well as no lumber or stump grindings.
Yard and garden waste must be separated from brush and branches. The finished compost material at the site is available for general public use, though no mechanical loading of the compost is allowed.
Those with questions can call the Willmar Public Works office at 320-235-4252.
