The meeting will start with a public hearing on amending the city code regarding prohibited activities in premises of on-sale liquor. If approved by the city council following the hearing, the amended ordinance would allow liquor to be sold at boxing, mixed martial arts and other specific contests regulated by the Minnesota State Boxing Commission.
On the agenda right after the city code amendment is a special event on-sale liquor license for Mamma Dee's Green Lantern LLC, which wants to sell liquor at a Cage Fighting Xtreme Event scheduled for Aug. 28 at the Willmar Civic Center.
The council will also consider calling future public hearings for the sale of GO Improvement and Abatement Bonds and General Obligation Sales Tax Revenue Bonds. The $3.49 million in improvement bonds would be for street improvements, while the $16 million in sales tax revenue bonds will be for the local option sales tax athletic fields and recreation and event center projects being built at the Willmar Civic Center.
The council will also be considering new protocols for an open forum during city council meetings.
