Grass fire near Grove City, Minn., burns shed, vehicles

GROVE CITY -- A grass fire, apparently started by wood stove ashes dumped on a brush pile, burned a shed and nine vehicles on a property near Grove City Wednesday morning.

GROVE CITY -- A grass fire, apparently started by wood stove ashes dumped on a brush pile, burned a shed and nine vehicles on a property near Grove City Wednesday morning.

According to Meeker County Sheriff Jeff Norlin, deputies, firefighters from the Grove City and Cosmos departments and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife fire department were dispatched just before noon to 20223 530th Ave., in Danielson Township.

The owner, Joe Crusoe, 32, from Grove City, reported that a grass fire had started and was spreading to a shed and vehicles on the property. When deputies arrived, the shed and vehicles were engulfed in flames. The fire destroyed the shed and approximately nine vehicles that were parked in and around the shed.

The owner estimated a total loss of $10,000.
